Shawn Walker and Justice

Shawn Walker

Justice and I have been volunteering with Pets on Wheels since 2019. We started visiting Sagewood Acacia, but really found our groove during evening visits to HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center (because the night shift needs love too!). We also enjoy participating in community events such as Dog Days at the Desert Botanical Garden. I joined the board in February, 2021 and was recently elected President in August, 2021.
Justice is a 4-year-old fluffy Australian Shepherd who was born deaf and blind. He loves meeting new people and will lean against you once you start petting him — he’s touch activated! When he isn’t working, he also enjoys going to the farmers market, traveling, hiking, playing with his brother, and interrupting Zoom calls.
We are both extremely grateful because Pets on Wheels accepted us both without hesitation. When we were just looking into doing dog therapy work, we ran into many roadblocks and folks who believed that a deaf and blind dog could not do therapy work. Now we are hooked and Justice takes his therapy dog work very seriously. We also visit as part of the Navigator Buddies program at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Justice is probably one of the only fans of pat downs from the TSA at the airport.

Marsha Usdane with Munchkin

Marsha Usdane
SECRETARY April 2017

Munchkin began her career as a visiting therapy dog in October of 2014 when we joined Pets on Wheels. I have been on the Board of POW as Secretary since 2017. Until the pandemic, we were visiting Osborn Health and Rehab and Piper Center. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the time that we spent visiting with friends, old and new. In addition, we have attended a variety of Pets on Wheels community events throughout the years. Munchkin loves interacting with people and her claim to fame is that she will snuggle on anyone’s shoulder!

Andrew Mark

I started with Pets on Wheels in 1993 with my dog Pinbo (a combination of Pinocchio and Dumbo—long story on the name). We visited at Life Care for a few years but he eventually became too skittish. During that time I got involved helping the organization obtain a grant and eventually became treasurer and a board member in 1996. I have kept the books and accounts for the organization and helped with the operations side since that time. One day hopefully I will have another pet volunteer too!
